Nomura – Mechanized Robby Space Robot Japan.
This robot is build in 1957 by Nomura in Japan. ( This is the Second version )
This is for sure THE robot icon that everybody knows: ROBBY THE ROBOT in its purest form.
Build as an exact copy of the robot in the film Forbidden Planet.
There were many variations made of this legendary robot but this is for sure the “mother” of all robbies ?
The actions are of course walking, flashing lights, spinning ears and the famous pumping pistons in his head.
His arms swing around while he walks. Not like other robots, robby carries the 2 D-cells in his legs.
I found this robot in Belgium some years ago and it has been in storage ever since.. why ! ? because the robot was missing his hands and his right ear.  Years later ( read 2021 ) I was finally able to complete this robot again.
Not only his hands but also his ear is 3D printed. the hands even in flexible pla plastic. His ear is a scan of the original ear and its fully working with spinning action. The dome is an original new replacement.
The mechanism has been given a full overhaul, new rubber band and is ready for the next 50 years to come..
So.. if you are looking for a 100 % original Robby than this is not the robot for you to bid on. The robot has replaced hands and one replaced ear ( both are 3D printed )
The robot is fully working with all the actions. Still an amazing addition to any robot collection
overall condition is excellent with normal play wear as you can expect from a robot that is over 65 years of age ! 🙂
