Nomura – Space Robot Japan aka Tuliphead Robot with Original Box !
This Space Robot, better known as Tuliphead Robot is one the most sought after robots by collectors. Not only the action but also the box, the colourscheme on the robot and its great totally different looks makes this a popular robot to collect.
Made in 1970 by Nomura ( X-70 refers to the year of production ) Space robot has some special tricks.. according to the box:
1. automatic walk and stop action
2. when stopped head panels open and tv camera revolves with flashing light and noise
3. lighted on top and neck in walking
uses 2 C-Cells ( not included ! 🙂
ok back to the robot.. when you are looking for a perfect working example than this is not the robot for you to bid on.
These robots were made for kids to play with and man they did ! 🙂
Resulting in wear on the main gear that is causing problems in closing of the head.
In action the robot walks, lights up and head rotates with open panels, no problems there but when the panels needs to be closed again the worn out gear gives problems there and you need to help the robot a bit with closing the panels again. Its possible to replace this gear but that is something I want to leave to the new owner to decide.
The robot is still working fine and i personally dont care to help this 52 year old robot a bit from time to time closing its panels :)… it stands on the shelves most of the time beeing pretty along the other bots 🙂 !
Further there are no flaws to mention on this one.. in excellent condition all original and complete AND.. comes with its original box. The box has some issues as you can see in the pictures. condition is rough with wear and tears but still its the original box for this robot.
